Jenin is a Palestinian city, the center of Jenin Governorate and its largest city, located in the northern West Bank under the Palestinian Authority. The city contains one of the oldest and largest Ottoman Islamic landmarks in Palestine, the Great Mosque of Jenin, which was built by Fatima Khatun, daughter of Muhammad Bey bin Sultan Al-Malik Al-Ashraf Qansuh Al-Ghouri in the sixteenth century. This mosque is considered one of the most prominent historical landmarks in Islamic civilization in Palestine, and one of the oldest Ottoman architectural masterpieces in the country.
